R. Garin Wiss, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009. He was 67 years old. Born and raised at the Jersey Shore, Garin has lived in Ohio the last 34 years. He was an active member of St. Christopher's by the River in Gates Mills and served on the vestry. He was an avid musician and supporter of all things musical. Garin was larger than life, like the railroads he loved.
He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Lynn; a son, Mark; a daughter, Jaime Doherty; two sisters, Gail Heyer and Linda O'Neil; and two grandsons, Will and Jake Doherty.
A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6 at St. Christopher's. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Anna's Episcopal Church (New Orleans Jazz Ministry), c/o St. Christopher's by the River, P.O. Box 519, Gates Mills, OH 44040.
